How was I nominated?
We reached out to our 15,000 local subscribers, asking them to name their favorite local businesses from October 13 to October 21. See our Facebook post here where we explained the process. The top 3 in each category are now moving on to our widely-publicized final round!
Encourage Fans to Vote
Here’s the link to our North Division Round 2 Ballot. (See ballots for our South and West divisions)
Voting is open through Noon on Monday, November 14. Reaching out to your fans and customers via Facebook, Instagram, email, and via signage is the best way to gather support.

When you include the ballot link (mentioned above) in the text of your Facebook post, a nice preview image will pop up. Tapping on the preview takes your followers straight to the ballot! (No need to upload or create your own image unless you’d like to).

Instagram posts: Here’s a square image saying “We’ve been nominated” (or here’s a version saying “I’ve been nominated”). Put the voting link in your bio, or say “Vote at communitykangaroo.com” (We’ve linked to the contest from our homepage).
Instagram stories: Here’s a tall image that’s great for stories (or the “I’ve been nominated” version). You can link to the ballot directly in your stories, which makes it a great way to increase participation!

Put up a flyer: We created this printable flyer with a QR code to take families straight to the ballot (note that the flyer lists the old deadline of Friday 11/11. The new deadline is Monday, 11/14.)

Prizes for Round 2 Winners
1. Physical Prizes
We’ll mail a window cling and certificate to distinguish your business as a Joey Award Winner
2. Digital Prizes
We’ll email a Joey Award Winner logo on a transparent background that can be used on marketing materials. We’ll also list your business for a year on our website, including a link to your site. (See last year’s winners for the North Division here)
3. Winners Featured in Newsletters
In addition to announcing our nominees on social media, we’ll announce them in a series of shared newsletter header ads to our subscriber audience, with 5-6 category winners mentioned together at the top of each of these newsletters.
(Note that any other advertising prizes offered in 2020 and 2021 were unique to those years)
